This years Carnival and Torchlight Procession will take place on Saturday 2nd October 2004.
Welcome to this year's carnival put on by the hard work
of the Rotherfield and Mark Cross Bonfire Society and the
support
of the village people. It is at this point we would like
to thank them all for their efforts and hope this year's
event
is as successful as last years.
Without the support of our local traders, organisations,
council, police and other services the event would not take
place. Not forgetting the marshals, torch runners and the
many behind the scenes including the early morning patrol.
This years procession will set off from Milk
Lodge Farm and pass through the square, where the prince
and princess
will join in at the front, go down Station Road to the Cuckoo
Line Stores. Here there is a short stop. It then returns
passing the Kings Arms along South Street to the Mayfield
turning, from here it retraces its steps via the Square and
North
Street to the Village Hall for the lighting of the beacon
and a Firework display.
